The Valcourt Manoir Wood Burning Fireplace is the updated version of Valcourt's very first fireplace. The steel framed double doors and ceramic glass are second to none; they slide effortlessly and without special tools into each side of the fireplace, allowing for an exceptional view of the crackling flames.
This fireplace will allow you to be creative when designing your decor thanks to its faceplate options available in different finishes. In addition, you will benefit from the maximum heat of the Manoir thanks to its included 176 CFM fan and the heat distribution options (forced air or gravity).
What kind of fireplace is this? The Manoir is a low mass fireplace, qualified under the US EPA's voluntary Low Mass Woodburning Fireplace programme at the Phase 2 emission level. That is a different category from an EPA-certified wood heater like the Lafayette II or Waterloo: a low mass fireplace is built for the look and feel of an open fire, with emissions measured in grams per kilogram of wood rather than grams per hour, and no published efficiency or burn-time rating. Valcourt recommends it for spaces under 1,500 sq ft and states that a primary heat source should be available in the home. Choose the Manoir for the fire; choose one of the EPA-certified models if you need it to carry the heating load.
The Manoir FP1LM needs a faceplate to be complete. Choose from each required group below.
Osburn and Valcourt are both built by SBI and share many parts, so some links below open our Osburn listing for the same part number.
Required – faceplate (choose one):
Optional:
| Fireplace footprint | 41 1/8" x 25 5/8" (105 cm x 65 cm) |
| Framing lumber | 2" x 3" (5 cm x 8 cm) or heavier |
| Clear height above the fireplace base, no combustibles | 6' (1.83 m) |
| Minimum ceiling height | 72" (1,829 mm) |
| Minimum chimney height | 15' (4.5 m) |
| Combustible wall or framing behind the fireplace | 2" (51 mm) minimum |
| Combustible materials in front of the opening | 48" minimum |
| Mantel height above the fireplace base, for a 6" deep shelf | 48" (1,219 mm) minimum |
| Mantel height for any other shelf depth | 42" plus the depth of the shelf |
| Hearth extension in front of the opening | 16" (406 mm) minimum |
| Hearth extension each side of the opening | 8" (203 mm) minimum |
| Chimney clearance to combustibles | 2" (50 mm) minimum |
The mantel rule is worth reading twice: 42" plus the depth of the shelf, measured from the fireplace base. A 10" deep mantel therefore needs to sit at least 52" up, not 48".
