Dimplex Ignite XL 100" Linear Electric Fireplace
The Dimplex Ignite XL 100" Linear Electric Fireplace (model XLF100, Dimplex order number X-XLF100) is the largest fireplace in the IgniteXL range, built around Dimplex's patented Multi-Fire XD® flame effect and a media bed that reflects dynamic, ever-changing colour. In prism mode the colours transition smoothly through the spectrum and you can freeze on the hue you like — most competing fireplaces switch between fixed colours with no gradual blend.
Without a real flame the glass stays cool to the touch, heat output is controlled electronically, and there is no venting, gas line or chimney to run. The Comfort$aver® ceramic heating system adjusts fan speed and heater wattage to match the room, using 11% less energy than the leading quartz infrared heater.

Will It Fit? Rough Opening

A 2x6 wall lets the unit sit flush with no trim, which is the cleanest look. In a 2x4 wall the unit is only partially recessed, and Dimplex specifies the XLFTRIM100 trim kit to close the gap — we stock it, so add it to your order if you are framing with 2x4. At this width, check that the framed opening is dead level across the full span before the unit goes in.
A note on the framing width. Dimplex's XLF100 technical specification sheet prints the framing width as 100 1/8" — the same figure it gives for the appliance itself, which cannot be right, since the opening has to be larger than the unit. The current installation guide (R06) gives 100 5/8", which also matches the pattern across the rest of the range. We have published 100 5/8" and asked Dimplex to correct their sheet. Before you cut, call us and we will confirm against the unit we are shipping you.
We have also left the glass viewing area off this table. Dimplex publishes conflicting viewing figures for the Ignite XL across their own documents, and we would rather give you nothing than give you the wrong number for a surround you are fabricating. The without-trim dimensions above are the size of the firebox face.

Note the 12.5 A draw at 120 V against a 15 A circuit — this needs its own dedicated circuit, not a shared one. The 100" draws no more than the 50" does; the heater output is the same across the range. Dimplex is explicit that the plug kit is not for use with an extension cord.

Installing Outdoors
The Ignite XL is certified for covered outdoor installation as well as indoor. Outdoors it must sit under a shelter, never open to the weather, and Dimplex applies an overhang rule to the shelter itself: the height above the fireplace must be no more than three times the depth the shelter projects. Warranty differs by location: 5 years indoor, 1 year outdoor.
